What is organic reach?

Organic reach is the number of unique people who saw your content without paid promotion: in your followers’ feeds, in the algorithm’s recommendations, through shares and through search. It’s free visibility that you earn with the quality of your content.

Why is organic reach falling?

Because more and more content is competing for a place in the feed, and the platforms make their money from ads. For years, posts from business Pages on Facebook have reached only a few per cent of their followers, and that isn’t coming back. But organic reach has moved: video formats (Reels, TikTok) still hand out free reach, because they distribute content based on how viewers respond, and follower count barely matters. A small account with a good Reel can reach hundreds of thousands of people.

What actually builds organic reach today?

Content that people react to: they save it, share it, comment on it and watch it to the end. A high engagement rate is what fuels distribution. In the social media accounts we manage, what works is regular Reels with strong openings, content that answers questions customers actually ask, and series formats that build a viewing habit. Be realistic, though: organic reach builds your brand and trust over the long term, but when you need predictable sales now, a paid campaign is faster. The best results come from combining the two.
