Advantage+ is a family of automation tools in Meta Ads in which the algorithm takes over decisions that used to be made manually: who to target, which creative to show and how to split the budget. You set the goal and supply the assets and limits, and the system looks for the cheapest results across the entire available audience.
What exactly does Advantage+ automate?
Several layers at once. Audiences: instead of manually built groups and lookalike audiences, the system expands targeting by itself wherever it sees results. Creative: it automatically generates variants (crops, text, music and, more recently, AI-generated enhancements) and shows the ones that work. Budget: it moves money between audiences and assets without any input from you. It’s the same direction Google took with Performance Max: less manual control, more trust in the algorithm.
When does Advantage+ work, and when does it burn through your budget?
Automation is only as good as the data and assets it gets. It works very well with accurate measurement (the pixel plus the Conversions API), a reasonable conversion history on the account and a varied batch of creative to test. It burns budget when the account is new, events are tracked badly, or it gets a single ad and is left to ‘get on with it’. In our Meta Ads campaigns we treat Advantage+ as one option to test alongside manually controlled campaigns. We write more about how AI is changing Meta campaigns in our article Meta Ads in 2026: AI is taking over campaigns.
